Dhikr & Your Mother

A man came to the Prophet, peace be upon him, saying: O Messenger of Allah there is a young man that is at his deathbed and it is said to him to say Lā-ilāha-il-lal-lāh (There is no deity save Allah) but he is unable to utter the words. The prophet asked: Wasn’t he able to say this during his life? They said yes. Prophet said: So what is preventing him now at his deathbed? So the Prophet and others went to the young man and the Prophet asked: O young man do say Lā-ilāha-il-lal-lāh (There is no deity save Allah) and the lad responded: I am unable to say it! And the Prophet asked why and the lad answered: I was rebellious to my mother. Prophet asked: Is she living? The lad said yes and the Prophet sent for her. “Is this your boy?” Asked the Prophet and the woman responded yes. “Imagine a blazing fire and it is said to you: If you do not intercede for him, he will be buried into the flames!” said the Prophet and the mother responded: In that case I will intercede for him. Prophet said: So acknowledge for Allah, acknowledge for us, that for sure you are satisfied with him” and the woman replied: Indeed I am satisfied with my son. The prophet then said: O young man do say Lā-ilāha-il-lal-lāh (There is no deity save Allah), and the lad was able to utter the words: Lā-ilāha-il-lal-lāh (There is no deity save Allah). And then the Messenger of Allah said: Al-Hamd (Praise) for Allah, Who saved him from the fire through me.

End.

And my love you tried to utter few words of Dhikr (Remembrance) but couldn’t? And you searched the books for some answer and you chased mystic sheikhs for any instruction and they all failed you? And you think the answer is out there someplace holy and lofty where you are cruelly barred against?

There are no such places and there are no lines in any books and there are no wise thoughts of any sheikhs, go back and find your mother, the answer is long buried within her broken heart, written in tears that shed silently while you were foolishly chasing the ghazal of your desires in the valley of someone else’s never ending dreams!

Go back since the bonfire is set aflame by the idol your own Nafs (Self) and you are no Abraham!

That day when the gales of her screams reached Allah, setting sail the ship of your life upon the weltering waves of her tears, that day you came here to remember That Unforgettable There and again the day when her tears fell by the blade of your negligence and indeed that very day she was forgotten by you, or was it all along you forgetting Hu!

Upon her bridge you walked towards this valley and upon her bridge you may walk back towards Eden.

Bonfire is lit and as far I can see, there are no Abrahams!
